The Robots of Death is one of those stories that gets better with every viewing. Its not a case of finding new depths to the story, but more a case of appreciating it more and more. Its a finely crafted story, with good atmosphere and core characters. This is Chris Boucher's best contribution to Doctor Who and creates an interesting society. There are the people on board the sandminer - some are members of the first families, all are there for gain in one way or another. There is a nod to Asimov with the notion that robots cannot harm or kill a human, although the story quickly makes it clear that this robot prime directive can be bypassed. Similar to Rope we know who the criminals are from the outset and the story focuses on a battle of wits instead.
