The picture quality is generally excellent. There is minor video noise but it is not distracting and the transfer is still superior to the original video release. The sound quality is excellent. Overall - 95%. Once again, thumbs up to the work of the BBC Restoration Team.
In the Welsh village of Llanfairfach, Global Chemicals announce a new contract which will mean new jobs and economic growth. Professor Jones and his colleagues from the Wholewheal Community (affectionately known as the Nut Hatch), are the lone, dissenting voices. A siren from the nearby, closed mine alerts the village to something more serious. A miner is found, dead, his skin glowing bright green.
The Brigadier has been called in to offer protection to Global Chemicals. This provides Jo with a lift to Wales but she intends to join Professor Jones. The Doctor, however, is determined to visit Metebelis 3, the fabulous blue planet of the Acteon Galaxy, even if it means going by himself.
The Doctor finally suceeds in getting to Metebelis 3 only to find that the fabulous blue planet is not all it seems. Only just making his escape, the Doctor returns just in time to answer a telephone call from the Brigadier. Going to Llanfairfach, the Doctor discovers that there is a green slime down the mine which infects anyone who touches it, causing them to turn green and die. Is there some connection between the slime and Global Chemicals? And what level of threat do the giant maggots, which seem to thrive in the green slime, pose to the world?
