PICTURE/SOUND QUALITY

The picture quality is generally excellent, perhaps some very minor video noise but nothing to spoil the viewing pleasure. The sound quality is excellent. The DVD contains the original six-part story and not the feature length version of the earlier video release. Overall, I would rate the picture and sound quality at 95%

INTRODUCTION TO THE STORY

Towards the end of the 21st century, the people of Earth use T-Mat, a form of instantaneous travel, to move between places, to ship cargo and vital supplies. Old style forms of transport such as cars and spaceships are defunct. Except in the dreams of one man, Professor Eldred, who has maintained a rocket in the hope that humanity will once agani embrace the idea of travelling beyond Earth. There is a T-Mat link to a place beyond Earth - to the Moon, but only for the purpose of creating a centre of operations.

Martian warriors, known as Ice Warriors, invade the Moonbase and take over T-Mat. They intend to invade Earth but its atmosphere is too rich for them. Using the T-Mat system on the Moon, the Ice Warriors dispatch seed pods down to Earth. These seeds will release spores which will in turn reduce the Earth's atmosphere, making the planet viable for the Ice Warriors.

Unfortunately, human dependence on T-Mat also maens that no-one has the expertise to fly Eldrad's rocket to the Moon...except for three travellers, the Doctor and his companions. The Doctor, Jamie and Zoë volunteer to fly to the Moon and attempt to regain control of T-Mat. There they hope to enlist the aid of the Moonbase personnel, provided they can evade the Ice Warriors. Will the Doctor be able to stop the Ice Warriors before the Earth's atmosphere is signficantly affected? And can he stop the Martian Invasion Fleet already on its way?
