The picture quality is excellent - far superior to any of the previous video releases; the sound quality is excellent. Overall, I would rate the sound and picture at 100%.
UNIT personnel monitor a meteor shower - a shower that lands rather than burns up in the amosphere. The landing is witnessed by poacher Sam Seeley. When UNIT arrive at the forest in the hope of finding one or more intact meteors they find a man collapsed outside a police box. For the Brigadier this is good news - as the man can only be the Doctor, a stranger who helped him during two previous alien invasions. The man has been taken to a local hospital so the Brigadier and Liz Shaw, a scientist seconded to UNIT, head there to find out more.
The Brigadier is disappointed to find a man he has never seen before, although the man recognises him. Reports that the man's blood and cardio-vascular system are not human hint that perhaps he is the Doctor. Could it be true? Has he changed his appearance in some way? And does he have some information about those meteors? There are those who suspect that the Doctor does know something because one meteor remains unfound. It is the swarm leader of a gestalt entity known as the Nestence Consciousness. Recovery of the swarm leader will allow the Nestenes to invade Earth. An attempt to kidnap the Doctor fails; meanwhile Sam Seeley considers what reward he might receive in exchange for finding the much sought after meteor.
The Nestenes have various weapons in their arsenal - Autons: plastic mannequins which come to life. Could there be a connection between the Doctor's would be kidnappers and a nearby plastics factory which is trying out a new range of plastics? And just how do you kill a relentless killer made of plastic?
